The Del Valle glider flying area is located in the hills South of Livermore on the road into Del Valle Park. People have been flying gilders here for many years. The good news is that you can just park and fly because the location is along the road. The bad news is that is right on the road so there is traffic going to and from the park. There is not a super good landing area. You can land on a small flat spot near the road or just below that is a plateau area. This spot is well inland and somewhat shadowed by some other hills. The wind tends to be a little less than the current wind at Livermore Airport. So look for a decent West wind through the Livermore Valley. On light days, a DLG is fun to fly as a sloper here.
